Non-Discrimination and Equity Policy

Earthwise Knowledge Initiative is committed to advancing public understanding through education and journalism in a manner that reflects intellectual rigor, fairness, and equal opportunity. Equity is not treated as a symbolic commitment or compliance requirement. It is a professional baseline guiding how we design programs, support educators, publish reporting, and engage communities.

Non-Discrimination

Earthwise Knowledge Initiative does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, school affiliation, years of experience, or socioeconomic status in the administration of its scholarships, programs, partnerships, or employment practices.

All educators, applicants, collaborators, and partners are considered on the basis of merit, relevance, and alignment with program goals.

Equity in Education

In our educational initiatives, equity means designing and supporting learning that builds from student strengths rather than deficit assumptions. We support teachers in creating intellectually rigorous instruction that is responsive to the lived realities of students and grounded in evidence of learning.

We recognize that teaching is relational and contextual. Responsible educational practice requires attention to student voice, patterns of engagement, and the consequences of instructional decisions. Equity is reflected in curriculum design, mentoring structures, scholarship access, and professional development opportunities.

Equity in Journalism

In our journalism initatives, equity requires careful sourcing, contextual accuracy, and attention to how reporting affects communities. We are committed to fair representation, intellectual honesty, and the inclusion of multiple perspectives, particularly in coverage of science, environmental issues, and history.

Journalistic equity is demonstrated through rigorous reporting standards, transparency, and accountability to readers.

Access and Opportunity

We are committed to expanding access to high-quality professional development and public information. Our scholarship programs are structured to reduce financial barriers to educator growth. Our journalism is produced for public access and civic benefit.

We do not treat access to knowledge as dependent on institutional affiliation, geography, or funding status.

Leadership and Accountability

Equity requires responsibility at the organizational level. Earthwise Knowledge Initiative is accountable for aligning its policies, partnerships, and program decisions with its stated commitments. We expect collaborators and partners to uphold standards of fairness, intellectual integrity, and professional responsibility.

Equity is demonstrated through how programs operate and how decisions are made, not solely through stated values.
