Journalism
Projects
The Columbia Basin Bulletin has been published continuously since 2003. Originally created with the assistance of a grant from the Bonneville Power Administration, the Columbia Basin Bulletin covers the Columbia River, its watershed, and related issues, including indigenous fishing rights, water quality and pollution, power generation, dam removal, endangered species, irrigation, invasive species, navigation and trade, treaty rights and Native American tribes, economic impacts, recreation and tourism, climate change, and international concerns.
Future plans include increasing the number of reporters working on the ground, and creating a student journalism project spanning nine universities, seven US states and two Canadian provinces.
The Columbia Basin Bulletin will be filling positions for a full-time student journalism coordinator, as well as additional professional contract reporters, and a full-time managing editor, as soon as funds can be made available.
